A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal

Well, the anticipation is over. It is time for me to reveal my Blogging From A to Z Challenge theme! This year my theme is:

~*~*~ Classical Music ~*~*~

I will be blogging through the alphabet with 26 different composers. I wanted to include as many of my favorite pieces and composers as I could, so my letter each day will be the composer’s first or last name, or a title of one of their pieces. There were a couple letters I had to dig for, but it has still been a fun process so far. Here’s what you can expect from my posts: I will include a YouTube video of a piece of music from the featured composer, and I have made an effort to find videos that are under 10 minutes (which is not easy with classical music). I will also include some quick and interesting facts about the composer, and in some cases, I may include a bonus video or other content.
A musical joke, who gets it?

I know that many people find classical music to be boring or sleep-inducing, but I have grown to appreciate it a lot more over the past few years and I hope to bring out some of the more interesting pieces that I have come across. Classical music can be inspiring, calming, mesmerizing, and, at times, exhilarating! Many of the pieces could also be great background music for those of you going through the A to Z posts each day! I am excited to share this fascination with you and I hope that you have an enjoyable experience and maybe even learn something new.

  1. Sounds good! I think of most of the composers of the past were alive today, their works would have a rock edge to them.

    1. You're probably right, Alex. I'm surprised at how many of them did adjust their work according to what others were doing.

  2. Classical music is so diverse I can never understand people who dislike it unilaterally. Great theme. I look forward to seeing which composers and pieces you have chosen for each day.

  13. Classical music is amazing, Beethovens Monlight Sonata sweeps along with such amazing speed towards the end. So looking forward to this.

    1. Spacerguy, the Moonlight Sonata is so beautiful! It was hard to narrow down the selections with some of these composers, like Beethoven, but it sure has been enjoyable to listen to my options :)

  14. No, I don't turn on the classical station in the car, I turn on the classics. LOL But it is still a great theme! I know there are classical pieces that I enjoy hearing. And depending on the piece, I can very much enjoy a full orchestra or a single grande piano wonderfully played. I just don't know enough about it, to pick out the pieces I like, to know them by name or even which composer. So, I'll be looking forward to seeing if any of your choices are to my liking and actually knowing the title and such. Revisit the Tender Years with me at

  15. Oh, about the joke! I don't read music, but I am guessing someone wrote in rock n roll notes/beat on a classical score.

    1. Not quite, good guess though! The red musical notes are actually a cell phone ringtone. It represents the cell phones that go off during a concert, which musicians are highly displeased with.

  16. There are certain pieces of classical music that I love, but I do listen to rock more than anything else. Good idea for a theme, though.

  17. I have come across lots of blogs related to music and movies and I would be interested to learn about the various composers about whom you are going to write as a part of the April posts. :)
