Question of the Month: Where to Next?

The Question of the Month is a bloghop that occurs the first Monday of each month and it is hosted by Michael G D'Agostino from A Life Examined. Here is this month’s question:
Of all the places in the world that you haven’t yet been to, where would you like to go next?

Initially, I thought this would be a hard question to answer, because I love traveling and I have dreams of traveling to many different places around the world. It would be hard to pick just one place I’d like to go next. After thinking it over, I realized that I know exactly where I hope to go next: Virginia! “Why Virginia?” you may be asking, well, because that is where one of my best friends has been living for the past few years and I have not yet been able to visit her there. Since I have never been to Virginia, I would have a new state to mark off my list. It has been over a year since I have seen my friend, so it would be great to catch up with her in person again. Plus, she has invited me multiple times to fly out there, so I think it’s about time I go!

Where would you like to go?

  2. Well, if you have a friend there, you have to go. Free room and board - you just have to get there.

  4. Virginia is a beautiful state. I was in Williamsburg a couple of years ago doing a family reunion at Colonial Williamsburg and Great Wolf Lodge. We had a great time.

  6. Virginia is a very nice state. The western part has the beautiful mountain regions through which I've passed more times than I can name. I'll be going through there again this summer. I used to live in Richmond which is a very nice city with so much history attached to it. You should definitely go to Virginia some time and see as much of the state as you can.

    1. Arlee, I don't know how long I'd be able to stay, but I think my friend isn't too far from Richmond, so we might be able to go there.

  7. Virginia has many beautiful areas. I'm sure you would enjoy it. If only we all had the money to travel where we want to.

    1. Susan, I know what you mean. If I had unlimited resources, I would have seen the world by now!

  8. I totally get that, my aunt's best friend moved to Sydney a few years ago but they still catch up constantly - maybe 2 or 3 times per year. I hope some of my friendships can stand the test of distance like that.

    1. Michael, I am extremely grateful for my two best friends! We've known each other since high school and even though we don't get together very often, I know I could call or text them about anything at anytime.

  9. Isn't it great to have a wonderful friend which makes the place to go to even better. I'd love to see Ankhor Wat and Macchu Picchu but I still feel a sense of home when I go to Europe. I would like to visit my mom's hometown of Wittenberg.

    1. Birgit, Europe is definitely on my bucket list! Yes, having my friend in Virginia is the main incentive, I'd like to visit her even if she lived in a place I've already been.

  11. That is an interesting choice! We're going to D.C. this summer, and we'll be close to Virginia!

    1. Stephanie, D.C. would be fun. I was thinking I'd try to go to Virginia during the summer, but after looking at flight prices, I'm thinking maybe September would be a better time.

  12. Virginia would be interesting and especially so for you, as you'd be visiting a friend. ☺ I love travelling anywhere, but gravitate most to historical places. I was fortunate to visit Greece and parts of Italy already. Still on the bucket list are Egypt, Venice, Malta and more. My U.S. wish list includes New York City, New Orleans, San Francisco and Hawaii.

    1. Debbie, I enjoy historical sites too. I got to go to Savannah, GA and I loved the cobbled/brick streets and all the old churches.
